General information

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery coordinates and facilitates the postgraduate training of hospital-based doctors and those training in General Practice and Dentistry.

The main function of the KSS Deanery is the provision of the highest quality of medical education, comprising the contracting and allocation of workplace based training opportunities, the quality management of the training provided and the assessment and support of approximately 3,000 Foundation and Specialty Training doctors.

Recruitment is managed locally, nationally and in collaboration with the London deanery across various specialties. Further, detailed guidance and information is available at www.kssdeanery.org/prospectus

The quality management of these activities is undertaken through our Specialty Schools who work with each Trust's Local Faculty Group and Local Academic Board ensuring the highest possible quality of education and training for our trainees. In addition, the Deanery supports these quality assurance and management structures through the development of the faculty of educators and careers advice services.
