As a leader in national recruitment and selection for Specialty Training, Yorkshire and the Humber Postgraduate Deanery is taking on the role of national lead Deanery for recruitment in 2011 to Clinical Neuro Physiology, Emergency Medicine, ENT, Neurosurgery, Paediatric Surgery and Trauma & Orthopaedics and will also be recruiting locally for a number of specialties as listed on the Deanery website.

The Yorkshire and the Humber Postgraduate Deanery has formed from a merger of the Yorkshire Deanery and the South Yorkshire and South Humber Postgraduate Deanery. The newly formed Deanery is now coterminous with the boundaries of the Yorkshire and the Humber Strategic Health Authority.

The Yorkshire & Humber Postgraduate Deanery serves a large, but well-connected area of Northern England. The Centre for Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education is part of the Yorkshire and the Humber Strategic Health Authority and is under the general direction of the acting Postgraduate Dean, Professor Chris Welsh.

The Centre for PGMDE is responsible for ensuring the delivery of appropriate levels of professional and vocational training and continuing education to all levels of Medical Personnel in the Yorkshire & the Humber Deanery, and Dental Personnel for the whole of the Trent Region. It discharges this responsibility through a network of part time and full time employees, honorary staff and other interested clinicians.

We have training schemes in General Practice, all secondary care specialties and Public Health. The Deanery works with Trusts, General Practices and other training providers to ensure that training is delivered to the highest standards.

The Foundation Programme is run by 3 Foundation Schools, North Yorkshire and East Coast (NYECFS), South Yorkshire (SYFS) and West Yorkshire (WYFS).
