Appointment of NHS MEE Chair
Professor Sir Christopher Edwards has been appointed as the
first Chairman of NHS Medical Education England (NHS MEE) which
will provide ministers with independent advice on planning the
future number of doctors, dentists, pharmacists and medical
scientists in the NHS in England, as well as overseeing their
education and training.
Detailed proposals for this new national advisory
non-departmental public body to improve key aspects of workforce
planning at national level were set out in the Department of
Health's Next Stage Review: A High Quality
Workforce.
